Step 1: Create a Bitly OAuth App

Go to Bitly Developer Settings

Log in to Bitly and open Settings → Developer settings → API.

Register a new application

Under Registered OAuth applications, click Register new app. Bitly emails you a registration link — open it to complete the registration.

Configure the application

Fill in the application name, link, and description.

Add the redirect URI

Add the Redirect URI from the Developer Portal to the Redirect URIs field and register the app.

Get credentials

Copy the Client ID and Client Secret shown for the registered application.

Warning

Never share your Client Secret publicly. Store it securely and only enter it in the Alter Vault Developer Portal.

Step 2: Add to Alter Vault

Open the Developer Portal

Go to portal.alterauth.com and navigate to the application.

Add Bitly provider

Go to OAuth Providers > Add Provider > Bitly.

Enter credentials

• Client ID: Paste your Bitly Client ID
• Client Secret: Paste your Bitly Client Secret

Save

Click Save. The provider is now active.

Notes

• Bitly does not use scopes. OAuth tokens have full access to the user’s account.
• Bitly tokens do not expire and cannot be refreshed.
